d5. The dunes are amazingly stable (exept for top 8 inches), so vegetation can take root. We think of sand dunes as dry desert things, but here the winter snows fill the sand with water. Dunes exist here not because of dryness/heat, but because the mountain range creates a null spot for the winds, sand drops out.

d12. "Rejoicing The Moon" - Tried to express the joy and freedom of camping 30 miles from nearest streetlight or anybody else. Guesssed wrong as to how tall I'd appear in the image, and need flash to make arms visible......Oh well, I'll just have to go back and do it again.
