From Banak, Montana. An abandoned gold mining town, now a state park. These images should be approached as a "body of work" in design and arrangement of space, rather than as individual stand-alone images.
A homage to Mondrian ( a early 20th century French painter).

b3. The Grand Hotel staircase. Popular image, but I thought I'd try it without the Knewl post.
b4. Upstairs Hallway. I did this same shot in Black and White several years ago. Here the color adds warmth; the B&W seems much more "abandoned".

b12. Some of the buildings are being "restored" with furnishings typical of the time (1890-1920). Unfortunately; they are then locked, so photography must be done through a window.
b13.
b14. Many houses are only one room, for eating and sleeping. The majority of a miner's day was spent out at the diggings, so more not needed.
b15.
b16. Many houses of the time/area didn't have hallways; inefficient. Rather all the doorways were alligned for traffic, with doors for privacy.

b18. Remnants of fancy wallpaper. Thick paper mache' on cloth backing, over raw logs.
b19. Train station at Virginia City, Montana.
