I enjoy wandering the less populated areas of the U.S.
Here are some scenic views I enjoy.
All images are links to larger presentations of the image.

image of.
Badlands

of South Dakota
What otherwise might be perceived as dull gray clay
shows colors in the pre dawn light
Here I lucked out in that the clouds
echo the rythmn of the clay layers.

image of.
Moonset

over the Badlands.
It is worth watching the calendar.
Luckily the clouds parted just before dawn

image of.
Snow on Cottonwoods
The subtle tones and rhythm cause joy.
This IS a color photograph.

image of.
Aspen and snow
Morning near Telluride Colorado.
The shade of the mountains let the blue of the sky show on the snow.
The interplay of opposite colors ( blue, yellow) is what makes this rhythm study work.

image of.
Sand Dunes

Stovepipe Wells, Death Valley, dawn
It is easy to get wrapped up in the play of light on sand,
a wider view can also be worth while.

image of.
D.V. View

From Zabrinski point, Death Valley
The hiker in the red jacket adds just the right
visual stopping place, and adds to the desolation.

image of.
Bad Water

Death Valley
Yes I drove 1200 miles for 3 minutes of color,
and many other images also.

image of.
Dawn, Grand Teatons

3 minutes before sunrise, and the Snake River; autumn
You can see the begining of the downburst
