These are a variety of images from Canyonlands area, both scenics and figure studies. Presented not as any great art, but simply because they were fun to make, and I enjoy them.

Dawn at Colorado river

The long exposure emphasises the quiet,
through the reflections of the water

Photographers in Slot Canyon

Asembled from three images. I wished to convey the depth of the slot canyons. Also required three different exposures, since no film can handle the tonal differences between the sunlight at the top and the dark 200 feet down.

image of.
Flower at cliff

Surprising signs of life appear
against the desolate rock.

image of.
The stare....

I enjoy this image simply because it expresses the skepticism
models have toward what instructions the photographer gives them

image of.
Lilly in costume

This is interesting in that a soft contemplative pose
counterpointed with high contrast lighting and background,
still yields an interesting image.
Portraits generally work best in soft light.

Reflections with form

the softness of the form against the random glow of the reflection, is a joy.

image of.
curves

The sensuality of the curves in sandstone emphasise
the sensuality of the form; and overwhelm it.

image of.
Dancer

Imagine the joy of dancing in the wilderness
un-encumbered, un-criticized, truely free.

image of.
Star Trails

Unfortunately, with all the dust in the air,
(and smoke from the Navaho Power plant),
The sky does not photograph as blue as one might wish.
approximately 3 hour exposure

image of.
Sand Patterns

It is surprising what one can find
when one takes the time to look closely.

image of.
In the Slot

The sensuousness of the form and the slot canyon
complement each other.

image of.
The shawl

I enjoy the incongruity of the modesty of the shawl,
counterpointed with the fact that it only covers the head...

image of.
Figure and Lake

What's more glorious than a beautiful woman,
water, rocks, and sky!

Crouched Figure and Sandstone

image of.
Hard and Soft

The counterpoint of the hardness of the rock
with the softness of the figure, is interesting
