I learned to photograph and print B&W when I was 9 years old.
Through diversions to painting, cartooning, theatrical lighting, and
color photography, I still do Black&White work.
I enjoy the different way it requires of seeing the world.

Overlooking the junction of Green and Colorado rivers
The white cap rock helps emphasise the blinding heat of the sun

The backlight and shadows add interest to the trees

While this may appear to be an Infra-red image, it isn't

Abandoned ~80 years, now Montana State park
The caretaker is also a photographer, and thankfully
left the towel on the doorway, for interest.

feeling and glow to the sunshine through windows.

I didn't realize the shape formed an outline of a bear untill
I printed the image.

Glow on Tombstones
The setting sun yielded nearly blinding reflactions from some
of the tombstones, while leaving the overall scene dark ans somber.

Two years later, good light on the rock, no clouds;
so I double exposed some from another negative, onto the print
.

The clouds were digitaly added to the figure in forground.

The smallness of the figure is emphasized by
the mass of the rocks

Clouds over Monument Valley
Wonderfull Cloud formations are common in the 4 corners area.
these were also used for several other images.
Both a Polarizing filter and an orange filter used to make
the sky black.
